Alexandra Road Park is a series of play spaces located within a listed 1.7-hectare park landscape in Camden, London.
Erect Architecture, working in collaboration with project landscape architects J & L Gibbons, designed four new play spaces for the site, which referenced historic play features but reinterpreted them in a contemporary way.
Erect architecture provided conceptual designs, initial construction drawings, and a series of connection details engineered by Jane Wernick Associates. From these Duncan & Grove created a 3D model to fabricate the main steel structure.
The main play space consisted of a series of self-supporting isosceles triangles filled in with nets, ropes, monkey bars, and climbing struts.
Duncan & Grove managed the steel fabrication, installation, and on-site welding; installed the timber elements, the nets and ropes, and liaised with the independent play inspector for the structure to be passed as EN 1176 compliant.
