OVERVIEW

In collaboration with HTFC Planning and Design, we spearheaded the design and build of an innovative nature play area at the International Peace Garden. This immersive space, set within an existing forest grove, is themed around the native animals of the Turtle Mountains—bringing the region’s wildlife and rich indigenous heritage to life.
The play area is thoughtfully divided into distinct habitat zones that encourage imaginative exploration and learning. In the turtle zone, children navigate climbing nets that mimic the gentle movement of these ancient creatures. The beaver zone features intricately designed bridges and dams, inviting playful discovery and problem-solving. Meanwhile, a wolf-themed gathering circle creates a communal space where stories are shared, weaving together the history, native plants, and indigenous culture of the Turtle Mountains.
This project not only inspires fun and creative play but also serves as an engaging educational journey, connecting visitors with the natural and cultural tapestry of the region.
