OVERVIEW

Nestled along the banks of the Maumee River, Glass City Metro Parks is at the heart of a transformative urban redevelopment aimed at creating a striking gateway to Toledo. The project introduces playspaces sprinkled throughout the park. This park is thoughtfully divided into distinct areas, each representing a unique aspect of Toledo’s character.
The pollinator playground, for instance, has been crafted to resemble a prairie or open farmland. It features structures that are low to the ground and surrounded by forage, attracting small creatures like birds, bees and other vital insects that contribute to this region’s ecosystem.
Our role in this exciting project involved designing and construction a range of destination play equipment. We collaborated with SmithGroup to visualize the playspaces through detailed 3D renderings. We proposed bold play structures that not only capture the spirit of contemporary design but also invite community engagement and imaginative play. The project seamlessly marries urban revitalization with child-friendly creativity, setting a new benchmark for public recreational spaces in the region.
