Playground Equipment – Chatham Historic Dockyard

Location: Chatham, Kent
Client: Chatham Historic Dockyard
Architect: MOH Design
Value: £85,000

Chatham Historic Dockyard is a maritime museum on part of the site of the former royal/naval dockyard at Chatham in Kent.

MOH Design created a nautically inspired play space based around key features of the dockyard which consists of a mix of bespoke and propriety playground equipment.

MOH provided detailed landscape drawings and a series of conceptual designs for the playground equipment. From these Duncan & Grove developed detailed construction drawings, liaised with engineers to determine timber sizes, fixing details, and foundation details. We determined critical fall heights and fall zones, and double checked these details with the play consultant to ensure they were EN 1176 complaint.

The equipment was manufactured in our workshop then transported to site in modular form and lifted into place. The equipment was made from large section oak beams, larch, and robinia.
